Sean P. Dwyer

Sean P. Dwyer is an accomplished trial attorney whose broad practice is focused on the handling of civil and criminal litigation matters. Sean represents clients in professional liability and healthcare matters, criminal defense and corporate investigations, casualty claims, environmental and construction claims, business and commercial matters, insurance coverage disputes, and professional disciplinary proceedings. He has appeared as trial and appellate counsel on behalf of a wide range of private,  governmental, corporate and insurance clients. As a trial attorney with almost thirty years of experience, Sean has tried numerous civil and criminal matters with many proceeding to verdict.

 

As a former prosecutor specializing in serious crimes and complex white collar investigations, Sean has counseled and defended many private clients, construction entities, health care professionals and corporate entities in the successful defense of criminal and administrative prosecutions brought by governmental authorities. These matters have also included the handling of serious felony charges, DWI, Medicare fraud, complex white collar investigations, administrative hearings, subpoena investigations, debarment and non-responsibility proceedings, and inquiries brought by the Inspector General Offices of federal, state and municipal agencies.

 

Sean has served as defense counsel-of-choice for several hospitals in the New York area and has successfully represented many professionals in the medical, dental, nursing and therapy fields.  In this capacity, Sean has previously been designated a Certified Medical Malpractice Trial Counsel by a nationally recognized professional liability carrier and he has been the recipient of awards for outstanding advocacy in the health care field by insurance and risk management entities. He has also regularly represents the interests of many healthcare professionals before disciplinary and peer review boards.

 

Beyond his extensive litigation practice, as a LEED® Accredited Professional and a Member of the United States Green Building Council, Sean has been recognized as a legal authority in green building and sustainable design. He advises construction and design professionals, engineers, brokers and insurance carriers in LEED and regulatory compliance, construction disputes, professional liability claims and insurance coverage matters arising in green building projects. Sean also specializes in providing green building consulting services nationally in both commercial and residential projects. He is among the first attorneys in New York State to earn the LEED® Accreditation. Sean has lectured on green building and he has provided presentations and training sessions for construction professionals, insurance carriers, and risk managers throughout the United States.

 

Sean frequently lectures on trial and litigation issues for the bar and has authored many publications and articles on advocacy. Sean has been certified as a Continuing Education instructor in over a dozen states and his legal lectures have been recorded for national distribution for attorneys and insurance professionals pursuing continuing education certification.

 

Prior to entering private practice, Sean was appointed as an Assistant District Attorney under the Hon. Robert M. Morgenthau, District Attorney of New York County. During his tenure, Sean served in the Trial Division and the Rackets Bureau in the Labor Racketeering/Construction Industry Strike Force. Sean has also served as a Special Assistant Attorney General for New York State.

 

Before joining LaSalle LaSalle & Dwyer PC, Sean has been a Partner and served as trial counsel at several firms in the New York metropolitan area. 

 

Sean earned his Juris Doctor from New York Law School in 1987. He is a member of the Order of Barristers and received the Professor Vincent LoLordo Award for Excellence. He received his B.A. from Manhattan College and attended Regis High School in Manhattan. He is admitted to practice in New York, and before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, District of New Jersey and District of Connecticut.
